Common questions

What is a NOC code?
The National Occupational Classification (NOC) is Canada’s system for classifying jobs. Each occupation has a five-digit code; NOC 2021 Version 1.0 has 516 of them. IRCC uses the code to decide whether your work experience counts for Express Entry.
What is TEER?
TEER (Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities) is the second digit of a NOC 2021 code, from 0 to 5. Express Entry counts skilled work in TEER 0, 1, 2 and 3 occupations.
How do I find my NOC code?
Search for your job title above, then open the occupation and check that your duties match its lead statement and most of its main duties. Your job title alone does not decide the code; your duties do.
How many NOC codes count for Express Entry?
376 of the 516 codes are TEER 0 to 3 and count as skilled work. 140 are TEER 4 or 5 and do not.
