What changes on November 3, 2026

IRCC announced the change on October 16, 2026. Everyone already in the pool is rescored automatically, and draws pause for up to two weeks while that happens.

Canadian work experience becomes “labour market integration”

You keep the same points for years of skilled Canadian work (up to 80, or 70 with a spouse).

Extra points for high-wage Canadian experience

12 months or more in an occupation on IRCC’s high-wage list adds 70 (2× the median wage), 40 (1.5×) or 20 (1.3×) points.

Job offers count again, without an LMIA

A qualifying offer in a high-wage occupation is worth 100, 70 or 50 points. You get the offer points or your work points, whichever is higher, never both.

New maximum of 1,270

The factor is capped at 150 points (140 with a spouse). Everything else in the CRS stays the same, including spouse, sibling, French and Canadian study points.

Questions people ask

What is a CRS score?

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is how Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) ranks everyone in the Express Entry pool. Points come from your age, education, language results, work experience and a few extras. In each draw, IRCC invites the highest-ranked candidates to apply for permanent residence.

What changes on November 3, 2026?

IRCC replaces the Canadian work experience factor with a labour market integration factor. You keep the same points for years worked in Canada, and you can earn up to 70 more points for 12 months in a high-wage occupation, or 50 to 100 points for a qualifying job offer in one. The two routes are never added together. The maximum score rises from 1,200 to 1,270. Nothing else changes.

What is a high-wage occupation?

One of 186 National Occupational Classification (NOC 2021) codes whose national median wage is at least 1.3 times the median wage of the Canadian workforce. Tiers are 2×, 1.5× and 1.3×. The tier depends on the occupation, not on what you personally earn.

Do I still need an LMIA for job offer points?

No. From November 3, 2026, a qualifying job offer earns points without a Labour Market Impact Assessment. The offer must be written, full-time (30 hours a week or more), continuous, for at least one year after you become a permanent resident, and in a TEER 0 to 3 job. IRCC still checks that it is genuine.

Will my spouse, sibling or French points be removed?

Not in this change. IRCC consulted on removing spouse and sibling points in 2026, but the October 16 announcement left them as they are. French-language, Canadian study and provincial nomination points also stay the same.

How accurate is Quick CRS?

The current-rules score was checked against IRCC's official CRS tool on five test profiles and matched every section. The new-rules score follows the point values IRCC published on October 16, 2026. It is still an estimate; your Express Entry profile is the only score that counts.

Which language tests can I enter?

IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, PTE Core, TEF Canada and TCF Canada. Scores are converted to CLB or NCLC levels automatically. If you already know your CLB levels you can enter those directly.

Why do I need an account?

Your answers and both scores are saved to your account, so you can come back after a new language test or a new job offer and see the difference without starting over. It is free.

Know where you stand before the draws restart

Free, two minutes, and your answers are saved so you can check again after a new test result or job offer.
